A Simple Life in a Small Cottage in South Sweden

One of the most meaningful parts of this journey has been building the kitchen together with my landlord. We didn’t just install cabinets — we created something from the beginning.

We measured carefully, adjusted when needed, and solved problems step by step. We puttyed the walls, sanded the surfaces smooth, and painted everything with patience. It was slow work, sometimes messy, but incredibly satisfying.

When you build something yourself, even partly, it feels different. The kitchen is not just a room. It carries effort, cooperation, and pride. Every brushstroke on the wall reminds me that this home has been shaped by our own hands.

The Beauty of Small Living

Tiny living is not about sacrifice. It is about intention.

  • Fewer things to manage
  • Less stress
  • Lower costs
  • More connection to your surroundings
  • More appreciation for what you have

In the countryside, space outside replaces space inside. I may not have large rooms, but I have endless sky, open fields, and peaceful silence. That feels like luxury.

A Home That Feels Right

This little cottage may be small, but it feels warm, personal, and alive. The walls we painted ourselves. The kitchen we partly built. The simple furniture that fits perfectly. Everything has a place, and nothing feels excessive.

Sometimes people think bigger is better. But I have learned that smaller can be calmer, cozier, and much more meaningful.

And please — there is no need to apologize for your English. What matters is the story, and your story is beautiful. A simple life in a small house on a Swedish farm sounds like something many people dream about.

Sometimes happiness is not about having more.

It is about needing less.
