  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for added heat)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (optional, for a tangy flavor)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)

  1. Prepare Ingredients:
    • Thinly slice the cabbage, finely chop the onion, and mince the garlic.
    • Chop the bacon into small pieces.
  2. Cook Bacon:
    • In a large skillet or frying pan, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until it becomes crispy.
  3. Sauté Onion and Garlic:
    • Remove excess bacon grease, leaving about 1-2 tablespoons in the pan.
    • Add chopped onions to the pan and sauté until they become translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
    • Add minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Cook Cabbage:
    • Push the onion and garlic to the side of the pan, add olive oil if needed, and toss in the thinly sliced cabbage.
    • Stir to combine the cabbage with the onion and garlic.
    • Cook, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender but still has a bit of crunch, about 8-10 minutes.
  5. Season:
    • Season the fried cabbage with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
    • If you like a bit of tanginess, add apple cider vinegar and stir to combine.
  6. Finish with Bacon:
    • Add the crispy bacon back into the pan with the cabbage mixture.
    • Stir to combine, allowing the flavors to meld.
  7. Garnish and Serve:
    • Garnish with fresh chopped parsley if desired.
    • Serve the fried cabbage hot as a side dish.
